Sam Martel
Board Member
Sam is a passionate advocate for stronger regional health outcomes across NSW, bringing to the RHI Board a sharp business-mind and a deep commitment to rural communities.
A Chartered Accountant (CA) with a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics (Hons), Sam’s career spans both Sydney’s middle-market advisory world and more than a decade back in regional NSW. Before returning to Dubbo in 2011, he worked with KPMG’s advisory division and Chapman Eastway. At home in the bush, Sam has advised graziers, irrigators, dry-land farmers, medical specialists, engineers, trades-businesses and aged-care providers.
Sam is technically rigorous in tax, finance and business-planning matters, and excels at translating complexity into clear-cut strategies: forecasting cash-flow, structuring finance, guiding succession planning, and assessing operational performance.
At the RHI, Sam uses this commercial expertise to ensure that our work stays grounded in practical, sustainable approaches — that regional health services are smartly financed, resilient, and capable of adapting to changing community needs.
Beyond his professional life, Sam and his wife Jacqui raise four children in the country. After years of rugby (he’s got the cauliflower ear to prove it), Sam now enjoys mixed-touch football and hobby-farming. His lived experience of regional life keeps him deeply connected to the people and places we serve.
